The future of motocross in Flanders is once again under discussion. According to Vlaams Belang, the number of available training tracks has declined significantly over the past decades, making it increasingly difficult for motocross riders to practise their sport. The political party has therefore launched an initiative to find new training opportunities and is calling on enthusiasts to sign a petition.
Over the years, Flanders has produced several world champions and has a rich motocross history. However, according to Vlaams Belang, the future of the sport is under pressure due to the steady decline in the number of venues available for riders to train.
The party blames the N-VA’s policies over the past decades for this situation. Members of the Flemish Parliament Bart Van Opstal, Sarah T’joens and Bart Claes want to use their initiative to draw attention to the shortage of training facilities while also looking for possible solutions.
As part of the initiative, they are reaching out to landowners who may have a property suitable for motocross activities. Supporters and other interested parties can also back the initiative by signing the petition.
Through www.redonzemotorcross.be, those interested can register, submit details of a potentially suitable site or show their support for preserving motocross in Flanders.
