Douwe van Mechgelen has announced his plans for the 2027 season. The Belgian motocross rider will compete in the EMX250 European Championship with VM Racing powered by Hannamax. His schedule will also include selected rounds of the MX2 World Championship, the Dutch Masters of Motocross and several national races.
Following a challenging 2026 season, Van Mechgelen has opted for a self-managed racing programme, supported by trusted people from his inner circle. Together with VM Racing powered by Hannamax, he aims to build a stable foundation that will allow him to continue developing as a rider.
Although the past season did not always go according to plan, Van Mechgelen gained valuable experience and demonstrated his speed on several occasions. He is determined to take those lessons into 2027 and challenge towards the front of the EMX250 European Championship.
The Belgian is enthusiastic about the plans and looking forward to getting started with his new team.
“I’m really looking forward to 2027 and working with the people who have supported me from the beginning. It means a lot to me that we have been able to put together our own racing programme with people I know and trust, and who share the same ambitions,” said Van Mechgelen.
“I believe we have everything in place to approach this the right way and be competitive. After a difficult season, I’m motivated to get back to work, make progress and show what we are capable of.”
The EMX250 European Championship will be the main focus for 2027. In addition, the team aims to gain experience at World Championship level by contesting selected MX2 Grand Prix rounds. The Dutch Masters of Motocross and several national races will also be part of the programme.
Van Mechgelen and VM Racing powered by Hannamax would like to thank all their partners and sponsors for their trust and support in making these plans possible.
