Douwe van Mechgelen to Miss Italian Grand Prix Due to Exams

Douwe van Mechgelen will not line up this weekend for the MXGP of Italy in Montevarchi. The young Belgian has decided to focus entirely on completing his final exams.

For Van Mechgelen, this means missing a race that is almost considered a home Grand Prix for his team. Nevertheless, the decision was a clear one.

“No Italian Grand Prix for me this weekend. It’s a shame because, for my team, this is the closest thing to a home race. However, my full focus right now is on finishing my final exams in the best possible way.”

Despite his absence, the motocross rider is looking positively toward the coming weeks. His transition to the new bike is progressing well, and he is becoming increasingly comfortable on the machine.

“I feel very good on the new bike and I’m incredibly grateful to everyone around me who has given me this opportunity. Their support means a lot to me.”

Van Mechgelen is now setting his sights on the races that will follow after his exams.

“Now it’s time to keep working hard, keep learning, and look ahead to the upcoming races.”
