SX Global has confirmed that the event, which was scheduled to take place in Birmingham on October 10, has been cancelled. In recent weeks, there has already been considerable speculation about the future of the championship. SX Global has now confirmed that it is actively working to secure a significant new investment.
According to the organisation, these discussions are progressing positively. The goal is to find an investor willing to commit to World Supercross for the long term and help create a stronger and more sustainable foundation for the championship, teams, riders, partners and fans.
However, SX Global says that finalising an investment of this size requires time and careful due diligence. While the organisation remains confident in the future of the championship, short-term operational measures are necessary.
A direct consequence is the cancellation of the World Supercross British GP, which was scheduled to take place in Birmingham on October 10.
SX Global describes it as a difficult decision and acknowledges that the cancellation will be a major disappointment for teams, riders, partners and, above all, British fans.
SX Global: “As with any investment of this scale, completing the process requires sufficient time and careful due diligence. While we remain confident in the future of the championship, the timing requires us to take some operational measures in the short term. As a result, we have made the difficult decision not to proceed with the World Supercross British GP, which was scheduled to take place in Birmingham, England, on October 10. We understand that this is disappointing news for our fans, teams, riders and partners, particularly in the United Kingdom, where World Supercross has built a passionate and important fan base. This is not a decision we have taken lightly.”
Anyone who has already purchased a ticket for the Birmingham event will be contacted directly by Ticketmaster. Refunds will be processed automatically through the original payment method.
According to the organisation, the purchase amount should be refunded within 14 to 21 days.
For now, SX Global is explicitly referring to the cancellation of the British Grand Prix and not the termination of the entire FIM World Supercross Championship. Discussions regarding new investment will continue, with the aim of strengthening the championship for the long term.
