Kash van Hamond can look back on a strong weekend in Meijel. On Saturday, he dominated the MON Youth event with the fastest time in qualifying and two convincing race victories. A day later, Van Hamond once again demonstrated his speed during the KNMV MX Nationals. Competing in the MX85 class, he finished second in both races, with his performance in the final race particularly impressive as he fought his way back from last place to P2 after a crash.
The weekend got underway on Saturday with the MON Youth event. Van Hamond immediately felt at home on the Meijel circuit and set the fastest time in qualifying.
He continued that form in the races. Kash took control in both the first and second races. In each race, he built a comfortable lead and managed the gap on his way to victory. With the fastest qualifying time and two dominant race wins, he enjoyed a perfect Saturday.
On Sunday, a new challenge awaited on the same circuit during the KNMV MX Nationals. This time, Van Hamond faced strong competition from Harry Dale in the MX85 class.
In the first race, Kash ran in second place, initially trailing the leader by around seven to eight seconds. As the race progressed, however, he steadily reduced the gap. In the closing stages, Van Hamond had closed to within approximately two seconds of the lead. Due to heavy traffic with lapped riders, he was unable to make a final attempt to take the victory, but his second-place finish once again demonstrated his strong pace.
The second race was arguably his strongest performance of the weekend. Van Hamond made an excellent start and entered the first corner in third place. However, he made a mistake in the third corner and crashed. As a result, Kash had to begin a long recovery ride from the back of the field. He refused to give up and worked his way through the field at a high pace. Rider after rider was overtaken, and Van Hamond eventually managed to fight his way all the way back to second place.
With a 2-2 result, Kash van Hamond finished second overall in the MX85 class at the KNMV MX Nationals in Meijel.
