Torre van Mechgelen marked his return to racing with a strong sixth-place finish at the KNMV MX Nationals in Meijel. The De Baets AIT Racing rider immediately showed good form after a period without racing, with sixth- and fifth-place finishes in the motos demonstrating that the speed is there.
After a break from racing, Van Mechgelen lined up behind the start gate in Meijel for the first time again. During qualifying, he had to get back into the race rhythm and posted the ninth-fastest time.
Torre put in a solid performance in the first moto. He worked his way forward throughout the race and eventually crossed the finish line in sixth place.
Van Mechgelen took another step forward in the second moto. The De Baets AIT Racing rider rode strongly and worked his way up to third place.
He held onto that position until the final lap and looked set for a top-three finish. However, in the closing stages he had to give up two positions and eventually crossed the finish line in fifth place.
With sixth- and fifth-place finishes in the motos, Van Mechgelen finished sixth overall at the KNMV MX Nationals in Meijel.
Torre van Mechgelen: “It was my first race back after a break. It was a solid comeback with a good pace. In the second moto, I rode in third place until the final lap. In the end, I finished fifth and sixth overall. There are still plenty of things we can improve, but this was a good first race back.”
