At the invitation of FOX Racing Europe, Nick Leerkes travelled to Barcelona for the exclusive launch of the new FOX MX27 collection. At Rocco’s Ranch in Spain, he had the opportunity not only to take a closer look at FOX Racing’s latest motocross gear, but also to put it to the test on the track.
The event focused entirely on the latest developments in the FOX collection. It was the perfect opportunity to discover what the MX27 range has to offer and how the different series compare in real-world riding conditions.
From fit and comfort to freedom of movement on the bike, Nick put the gear through its paces to assess the collection from a rider’s perspective. In this review, we take a look at his experience at Rocco’s Ranch and explore the differences between the FOX 180 and 360 series.
With the 180 and 360 series, FOX offers two interesting options for motocross riders. Both ranges feature the brand’s unmistakable FOX styling, but differ in their construction and the type of rider they are best suited to.

FOX 180 – Comfort and Performance at an Attractive Price
The FOX 180 is an excellent choice for riders looking for comfortable motocross gear with a sporty look, without stepping straight into the higher price bracket.
The pants feature Rider Attack Position (RAP) construction, designed to accommodate the active riding position on a motorcycle. Stretch panels provide freedom of movement, while reinforced knee panels are designed to withstand heat and wear more effectively. The jersey is also focused on comfort, featuring breathable materials and ventilation panels.
On the track, you need gear that does not pull or restrict your movement when standing on the footpegs, shifting your weight or leaning into a corner. The 180 series provides a solid foundation for all these demands.
My impression: The 180 is an excellent option for recreational riders and dedicated motocross enthusiasts looking for a reliable, comfortable outfit with a strong price-to-performance ratio.
FOX 360 – Extra Focus on Durability
The FOX 360 series is aimed more at riders who train regularly and put their gear through intensive use. This range focuses on more durable materials, reinforced areas and extra attention to the overall construction of the gear.
At a track like Rocco’s Ranch, where you are constantly moving and your gear is put under considerable stress, these are important features. The 360 is designed to handle intensive use more effectively without sacrificing the freedom of movement you need while riding.
While the 180 stands out as an accessible all-round option, the 360 appeals to riders who are willing to invest more in a tougher outfit for regular use.
My impression: The 360 is an interesting choice for dedicated riders who spend a lot of time on the track and place a high value on durability when purchasing new motocross gear.

The Key Improvements in the FOX MX27 Collection
FOX 360 – Redesigned Base Construction and Athletic Fit
-
New base construction: A completely redesigned construction for an improved fit.
-
New fit: More athletic than the 180, while offering a roomier fit than the Flexair.
-
More stretch: Four-way stretch material and a redesigned rear section of the pants provide greater freedom of movement.
-
Higher waist: The raised waistband ensures a better fit while riding.
-
Lightweight jersey: A redesigned, lighter fit provides additional comfort.
FOX 180 – Improved Fit and Comfort
-
Updated fit: A modern, more relaxed fit suitable for a wide range of riders.
-
Improved fit around the waist and hips: The pants feature a higher waist and additional stretch around the hips and thighs to help keep them securely in place.
-
Jersey stays tucked in: The design focuses on creating a better connection between the pants and jersey, helping the jersey stay tucked in while riding.
-
More ventilation: Lightweight polyester and ventilated mesh panels on the sides provide improved airflow.
-
Extended size range: Jerseys are available up to 3XL, while pants go up to size 44.
In short, the MX27 collection focuses primarily on improved fit, greater freedom of movement and enhanced comfort. The 360 features a completely new base construction with an athletic fit, while the 180 has mainly been improved in terms of fit, ventilation and sizing.

My Experience at Rocco’s Ranch
What matters most to me when it comes to motocross gear is not having to think about it while riding. The fit needs to be right, the gear must provide sufficient freedom of movement, and everything needs to stay comfortable and securely in place when riding actively.
Both the 180 and 360 have been developed with these requirements in mind. The main difference comes down to the balance between price and the additional focus on durability offered by the 360.
The 180 is therefore a logical choice for anyone looking for quality motocross gear at an attractive price. The 360 is better suited to riders who put in a lot of hours and value a more robust construction.
Conclusion – Which FOX Series Is Right for You?
The FOX MX27 collection shows that you do not necessarily need the most expensive model to be properly equipped for the track.
Choose the FOX 180 if comfort, sporty styling and value for money are your priorities.
Choose the FOX 360 if you ride intensively on a regular basis and place extra value on reinforcement and abrasion resistance.
For me, it ultimately comes down to finding the right combination of fit, comfort and confidence on the bike. Both series have their own strengths and offer a suitable option for different types of motocross riders.
