Impressive riding for Karssemakers as bad luck holds back results in Lommel

Steve Dixon – Team Owner / Manager

“Kay rode great this weekend, on the qualifying race he held 3rd for a few laps and looked comfortable until he crashed, but he remounted to finish 8.

Excited for Sundays race Kay didn’t disappoint, running in the top 5 of race 1 but after 20 minutes or so there was a huge cloud of steam. Turns out the electric water pump split in two, causing the sudden loss of coolant.

Race 2 I tried to run without the electric water pump, but this proved to be worse with the water boiling within 4 laps.

This was a bitter pill to swallow, but Kay was very professional on track, we will try to give Kay better power for the next sand GP in Arneham so it makes riding at the front easier and that’s where he belongs.”

Kay Karssemakers – MX2

“It was a difficult weekend in Lommel. In the qualifying moto on Saturday, I got a really good start and was in 3rd place for some laps. Then I was in 5th with good riding, but later I made a small mistake, crashed and finished 8th. On Sunday, in the first moto, I got a good start again and was in 5th place. I was in a good pace and riding well, but unfortunately I had a bike issue, so I ended up with a DNF. Second moto, it was not the best start, but I fought quickly back to the top 10 with good lap times.

Unfortunately, after 4 laps the bike broke, so my race stopped earlier. Not the luckiest on my side this weekend, but I’m happy with my riding. To show what I can do makes me happy and hungry for more!  Thanks to Dixon Racing Team, my trainer William, sponsors and everyone behind me.”
