Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 Team’s Janis Reisulis has secured sixth overall at the MXGP of Great Britain, round 12 of the FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship. Teammate Karlis also performed well, finishing just behind his brother in seventh.
The 12th round of the season took the riders to the recently revamped Foxhills circuit in England. Known for its hardpack surface, steep hills, and plentiful jumps, the race track developed to be very technical for the Grand Prix races and both riders performed well despite the tricky conditions.
With overall podium results at the previous two rounds, J. Reisulis headed to Great Britain confident and focused on making it three in a row. In Race One, he started well aboard his Yamaha YZ250FM machine and he moved into fourth on the opening lap. A few laps later he was demoted back to fifth where he remained to the finish.
The second race started just as strongly for J Reisulis with a potential overall podium result in sight. Unfortunately, a small crash early on dropped him to ninth, which gave him a lot of work to do. By race end, and with passing opportunities limited, he could only gain one position to finish eighth. On the day, J. Reisulis placed sixth overall and leaves Great Britain sixth in the series standings.
At the same time, K. Reisulis delivered two determined rides despite not finding his flow until Race Two. Finishing eighth in the opening race marked a decent start to the Grand Prix races, before he placed sixth in the second race for seventh overall. The Latvian maintains eighth in the championship with seven rounds remaining.
With the first of three consecutive Grands Prix now complete, the team will now head to the Czech Republic next weekend for round 13, before travelling to Belgium for round 14 one week later.

“It was a solid weekend. Everything felt quite calm and I wasn’t too stressed. My starts weren’t great in either moto, although the second one was a little better. I felt like my speed was similar to the riders around me, but I just couldn’t make enough passes to move further forward. I also lost quite a bit of time in the second moto when I had a small crash, and I think that cost me the chance to fight for the podium. But that’s racing. Overall, it was a solid weekend. A big thank you to the whole team and everyone who supports me.”

“I struggled a little on the first day to find a good feeling with the track. I finished 10th in the Qualifying Race, which wasn’t too bad, but I still wasn’t completely comfortable out there. In the first moto on Sunday, I felt quite good early on, but I got stuck behind a few riders and found it difficult to make passes. Once I finally got by them, it was hard to find my rhythm again. The second race was much better. I made a lot of passes on the opening laps to move into sixth, and from there I was able to settle into a good rhythm and felt comfortable on the bike. Overall, it was an okay weekend, and now it’s onto Loket.”
