Osička MX Team returns to the MXGP series

The ninth round of the season takes the world’s motocross elite to Montevarchi.

After a short break, Osička MX Team returns to the 2026 FIM Motocross World Championship. The ninth round of the season will take the world’s elite to Montevarchi, Italy, in the Tuscan region of Valdarno on 20–21 June. Italy hosts an MXGP round for the third time this year, with the Miravalle Circuit set to stage another crucial battle for championship points. After missing the Latvian round, both riders of the South Moravian Osička MX Team will be back on the starting gate. Julius Mikula will compete for MX2 World Championship points, while Václav Janout will line up in the EMX250 European Championship class.

Mikula returns to the battle for a top-ten position
For Mikula, getting back into race rhythm will be especially important. Following the concussion he suffered at the MXGP of Germany, he was forced to miss the round in Kegums, Latvia, which affected his overall standing in the championship. The talented Czech rider has dropped to 11th place in the MX2 standings and currently sits 17 points outside the top ten.

Since the last round contested by Osička MX Team in Germany, the entire squad has focused on preparing for the next stop of the world championship. As part of his preparations, Julius Mikula trained alongside the reigning MX2 World Champion, Simon Längenfelder, one of the fastest riders in the current field. The two teammates also completed training sessions at the renowned Czech circuit in Loket, where they fine-tuned both their speed and physical condition ahead of the demanding weekend in Italy.

Miravalle Circuit promises a demanding weekend
However, Osička MX Team is not facing an easy return. Weather forecasts for Tuscany predict temperatures of around 35°C from the middle of the week onwards. The extreme heat will present a major challenge not only for the riders but also for the organizers. The key question remains: how well will the hard-packed surface of the Miravalle Circuit hold up throughout the weekend?

Montevarchi is one of the most historic motocross venues in Italy. The Miravalle Circuit, measuring approximately 1,650 metres in length and featuring a hard clay surface, offers significant elevation changes, steep climbs and descents, and numerous technical corners. Thanks to its hillside location, the track also provides excellent visibility for spectators.

In recent years, the venue has undergone extensive modernization. The organizers redesigned sections of the track, added new jumps and roller sections, modified several high-speed areas with an emphasis on safety, and expanded both the paddock and parking facilities. As a result, Miravalle successfully combines rich tradition with a modern approach to world-class motocross.

The ninth round of the season will be another important test for Osička MX Team in its 2026 campaign. Julius Mikula will be aiming to begin his climb back into the top ten of the MX2 standings, while Václav Janout will target the strongest possible result in the highly competitive EMX250 European Championship field.
