Kawasaki Introduces New KX450F and KX250F for 2027

Fresh off its MXGP World Championship success, Kawasaki is not resting on its laurels. To maintain its leading position, Kawasaki is pushing harder than ever and is introducing the new KX450F and KX250F for 2027, featuring numerous upgrades. With this strong duo, the well-known “F” designation returns to the Kawasaki lineup.

KX450F

The new KX450F has been developed in part based on feedback from reigning MXGP World Champion Romain Febvre. The most significant change is an all-new frame paired with a new swingarm. The longer wheelbase provides increased rear-wheel traction, improved control, and greater stability. The front and rear suspension have also been retuned, giving the KX450F a more predictable and capable feel across a wide range of riding conditions.

The engine has also received significant updates. Thanks to a new intake and exhaust system, along with optimized fuel injection settings, the KX450F delivers a more aggressive character, with stronger low-end torque and increased power through the mid and upper rev range. This is particularly noticeable when accelerating out of fast corners, where the new engine and chassis combination truly makes a difference.

On the technology side, the KX450F offers extensive adjustment options. Using the Power Mode button on the left handlebar, riders can easily switch between two engine maps. In addition, two KTRC Traction Control settings are available via a handlebar-mounted switch. Both the Power Mode and KTRC settings can be further fine-tuned using the updated RIDEOLOGY THE APP KX2 on the rider’s smartphone. Launch Control has also been updated and now features a rev-limit control function, allowing riders to focus entirely on securing the holeshot.

New for 2027 are Brembo brakes front and rear. Both the brake calipers and master cylinders are supplied by Brembo and are paired with braided steel brake lines. This setup provides immediate braking performance and a consistent feel. For maximum rider comfort and control, both the handlebars and footpegs feature Kawasaki’s ERGO-FIT adjustability system.

Visually, the KX450F has also been redesigned. The new slim bodywork emphasizes the bike’s compact construction. Lime Green bodywork with blue accents gives the motorcycle a modern appearance that aligns with the race machines of the Kawasaki Racing Team.

KX250F

The KX450F is not the only model to benefit from major updates. Kawasaki’s popular 250cc machine has also received numerous upgrades and will be known as the KX250F from 2027 onward.

The KX250F shares the same updated styling, featuring redesigned bodywork, a new number plate, and a new front fender with a simple and lightweight design.

The engine has been refined in several areas. Modifications to the combustion chamber, a longer exhaust header, and an optimized, more compact silencer contribute to stronger performance throughout the entire rev range. The combustion chamber now features a smoother, more rounded shape, enabling faster and more efficient combustion. This results in a peak power increase of 0.5 kW and a maximum torque gain of 0.3 Nm.

Updated fuel injection settings deliver a sharper and more linear throttle response. To transfer the additional power smoothly and effectively to the ground, the KX250F is equipped with a higher-capacity hydraulic clutch. Clutch spring pressure has been increased by 15%, providing more progressive and reliable power delivery.

Like the KX450F, the KX250F features selectable Power Modes, KTRC Traction Control, and Launch Control. These electronic rider aids can be customized via RIDEOLOGY THE APP KX. In addition, the routing of the coolant hose and front brake line has been revised, while the front and rear suspension settings have been updated to provide greater control and efficiency on the track.

The new KX250F will be available from Kawasaki motocross dealers in mid-September. The new KX450F will follow in mid-December.
