Deacon Denno claims SMX Next title after strong season finale

Deacon Denno has been crowned the 2026 SMX Next Supercross AMA National Champion. The American talent from Triumph Factory Racing secured the title with a convincing victory in the finale in Philadelphia.

The 18-year-old Denno enjoyed a strong season in the SMX Next class, which runs as a support category to the AMA Supercross Championship. With three podium finishes, including two wins, he captured the title and underlined that he is one of America’s biggest rising talents.

After a solid start to the season, gaining experience in major stadiums, Denno truly broke through with his dominant win at the Daytona International Speedway. Despite a difficult race in Birmingham, where he still managed an impressive fifth place while dealing with a leg injury, he finished the season on a high note.

In the muddy conditions in Philadelphia, following heavy rainfall, Denno was untouchable. With a holeshot and the fastest lap times, he built a comfortable lead and convincingly secured the championship.

Deacon Denno:
“It was an amazing way to finish the season and a dream come true to win the SMX Next Supercross AMA National title. My goal was to win races, so I’m really happy to end it with two wins and a second place. It’s great to see all the hard work pay off. This season has given me a lot of experience, and I’m grateful for that. There were highs and lows, but I’ve come out mentally and physically stronger and learned a lot. The highlight for me was Daytona—such an iconic venue. Winning there was very special, especially since it was my first supercross victory and also a first for the team. The bike was great all season. From the moment I joined the program, I felt comfortable on the TF 250-X. The more we tested and fine-tuned it, the better it got, so thanks to Triumph and the team for that. It’s amazing to have such a knowledgeable and experienced team behind me. I’m grateful to everyone who supports me. After Philadelphia, I’m looking forward to shifting my focus to motocross and preparing for the outdoor season.”
