Gyan Doensen shows promising form in Alghero

Gyan Doensen of Gabriel SS24 KTM Racing kicked off the new season on Sunday in Alghero, Italy. Under tough and treacherous weather conditions, the field was immediately faced with a challenging first pre-season test.

For Doensen, it had been six months since he last lined up behind the starting gate, due to the injuries he sustained in Sweden. Doensen started the day strongly and quickly found a good feeling on the bike during time practice. This allowed him to set a sharp lap time, finishing the session third in his group.

In the first moto, Doensen delivered a strong and consistent ride. With good pace and smart decision-making, he spent almost the entire race running in seventh position, which is also where he ultimately finished.

The second moto proved less fortunate. At the start, a rider crashed in front of Doensen, resulting in damage to his bike. Due to the mechanical issues, he was forced to retire from the race prematurely, preventing him from achieving a potential follow-up result.

Despite this setback, Doensen looks back positively on the weekend in Alghero. His speed and fighting spirit were clearly evident, and the race provided valuable information for his continued preparation towards the season.
