The French track of Saint Jean d’Angely hosted the European Grand Prix, the third round of the FIM Motocross World Championship 2025. Although the weekend was again marked by the rain, the track conditions were much better than the ones experienced in Spain the previous week.
Ben Watson (Beta RX450) started the weekend with a 23rd position in the time trials, then improved in qualifying, where he finished 15th. In the titled heats, he had two poor starts which forced him to come back: in Race 1, after starting 25th, he recovered up to 14th position; while in Race 2 he finished 12th. With these results he finished 11th Overall of the day, missing out on the top ten by just three points, and gained one position in the Championship, moving up to 15th.
Ben Watson:
“The weekend started well, the feeling with the bike was very good. In qualifying I found a good pace, but on Sunday the starts slowed me down. I am satisfied with my riding, but I still have to work on further improvement.”
Tom Koch (Beta RX450) also faced a challenging weekend, setting 22nd fastest time in the time trials and 23rd in qualifying. In Race 1 he maintained his position, finishing 23rd, while in Race 2, after a good start, he was slowed down by a group crash at the first corner, managing to climb back up to 17th position. The rider ended the day in 21st position.
Tom Koch:
“Again, a very wet weekend, with difficult track conditions. In practice I felt good, but in the race I made a few mistakes and struggled to find the right rhythm. Now we will use the weekend off to train in the sand and be ready for the next race.”
The MRT Racing Team Beta Factory will be returning on track in a fortnight’ time for the Grand Prix of Sardinia, the fourth round of the FIM Motocross World Championship 2025, which will be run on the track of “Le Dune” in Riola Sardo.
