Justin Cooper will not compete in the SMX Playoffs. The American rider from Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing has decided to sit out the remaining races of the season, saying that he has not had enough time to prepare to be able to fight at the front.
Cooper previously missed the final round of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship at Ironman in order to fully focus on his recovery and preparation for the SMX Playoffs. It has now become clear that he will also not line up behind the gate during the playoffs.
The Yamaha rider says it was a difficult decision, but believes he is currently not sufficiently prepared to perform at the level he expects from himself.
Justin Cooper: “To say I’m disappointed to be missing the playoffs is an understatement. But sometimes the right decisions are also the hardest ones. I simply haven’t had enough time to prepare to be able to fight at the front. One thing is for sure: this reset has only made me hungrier to come back strong.”
