Valerio Lata will not compete in the final three rounds of the MX2 World Championship, bringing the Italian Honda HRC rider’s 2026 season to an early end.
Lata made his final World Championship appearance at the MXGP of the Netherlands in Arnhem. Last weekend, he secured the eighth Italian title of his career, after which the decision was made to bring his season to a close.
As a result, Lata will not line up for the remaining Grands Prix in Türkiye, China and Australia.
Arnhem also appears to have been Lata’s final Grand Prix as a factory Honda HRC rider. The Italian has been strongly linked with a move to the KTM factory team for the 2027 season, although the transfer has not yet been officially confirmed.
