Douwe van Mechgelen Strong at Keiheuvel Despite Setbacks

Douwe van Mechgelen of Team Seven Motorsport enjoyed a positive race day during the international motocross event at Keiheuvel. The young Belgian showed a strong pace on his KTM in the MX2 class and, despite several setbacks, fought his way to seventh place in both motos. He also impressed with his speed in the Superfinal.

In the first moto, Van Mechgelen had a difficult start. Along with several other riders, he got caught up against the starting gate, forcing him to begin his charge from the back of the field. With a strong pace, he worked his way through the pack and eventually crossed the finish line in seventh place.

The second moto was not completely trouble-free either. From the opening lap, Van Mechgelen was dealing with a minor technical issue that prevented him from riding freely. Despite the problem, he once again managed to secure seventh place.

In the Superfinal, Van Mechgelen once again showed just how strong his pace was. While battling for second place among the 250cc riders, he crashed while attempting an overtake. After the fall, he managed to almost completely close the gap again, underlining the strong pace he had shown throughout the day.

Douwe van Mechgelen:
“Overall, it was a positive day. In the first moto, I got caught up against the starting gate together with a few other riders and had to come back from last place. The speed was really good, and I eventually managed to finish seventh.

“In the second moto, I had a small technical problem from the first lap and couldn’t really ride the way I wanted to. Even so, I managed to finish seventh again. I felt really strong in the Superfinal. When I went for second place among the 250cc riders, I crashed. After that, I managed to almost completely close the gap again. I felt super strong all day, and I’m taking that feeling with me to Sweden.”
