Jeffrey Herlings enjoyed a perfect opening MXGP moto at Foxhill, taking the lead from the start and never looking back. The Dutchman controlled the race from the front to secure a convincing victory.
Tim Gajser finished second, while Romain Febvre completed the podium in third. Ruben Fernandez crossed the line in fourth, with Andrea Adamo rounding out the top five.
Rumours had been circulating throughout the paddock that Lucas Coenen was still suffering from the effects of his crash during Saturday’s qualifying race. The Belgian started the moto but was forced to retire after a few laps, leaving the track in tears.
Calvin Vlaanderen finished 13th, while Rick Elzinga also scored points in 19th place. Brent Van Doninck was the highest-placed Belgian in 16th, with Jago Geerts finishing 18th.
