Stormworks Garage head honcho Sonnie Mee is entering his own team into the international race at the OG vets event, the Farleigh Castle Vets MX held on its traditional mid-September date and as team manager, Sonnie isn’t messing about with his team picks!
First out of the gate is Tommy Merton, who will be lining up on a Stormworks Husky CR 250 and rocking the number 19 plate. At 45 years old, he is the senior member of the team but is still more than capable of getting a podium result.
Next, and who you have to consider as team captain is Welshman Glen Phillips, a regular on the vets scene since he retired from professional racing. His speed and ability cannot be questioned. Phillips is always a hard charger, who takes no prisoners and will be on the Husky CR 360 shod with the number 20 plates.
Last but certainly not least, on the number 21 machine is Ty Kellett, who, at 32, is the baby of the team. He will be on a Stormworks Husky CR 250. He is certainly one to look out for when the gate drops at the quintessentially English Grand Prix circuit on Saturday, September 12th.
Farleigh Castle Vets MX was established by Dave King back in 2009. The whole weekend is a nostalgic throwback to the good old days of racing, featuring ‘vintage’ machines spanning four decades. All new for 2026 is the Evo Ultra 4-stroke class.
The event is a firm favourite with riders and fans and attracts riders from all over the world. The event attracts many a former pro rider too! With 10 classes pr block and sixty riders on the line per race, there is plenty of racing action for all.
The promoters have frozen the spectator tickets and camping passes at 2024 pricing, providing an affordable, brilliant family weekend.
Gates open at midday on Thursday, September 10th, for weekend campers, prior to the chill Friday, with a track walk and scrutineering before the racing action commences on Saturday and Sunday.
