Levi Kitchen of the Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki Team experienced a mixed weekend during the race in Alabama. The American showed his speed by setting the fastest qualifying time in the West Coast class, but also had to deal with physical issues.
Despite back pain, Kitchen managed to hold his own and started the evening with a positive feeling. After the race weekend, however, he underwent scans to further investigate the problem.
“Alabama had its ups and downs. I qualified first in the West, but I was dealing with back pain. I felt as good as I could under the circumstances,” said Kitchen. “On Monday I had scans done and a few things showed up. We’re going to try to address it properly and I’ll keep you guys updated.”
The exact nature of the injury has not yet been disclosed, but the team is doing everything possible to fully assess the situation and support his recovery.
For now, it remains to be seen how the situation develops, but the hope is that the #47 Kawasaki rider will soon be back at the gate at full fitness.
