Jeffrey Herlings Ready for Honda Debut in Mantova

In Mantova, a standout new face for 2026 will be lining up behind the starting gate: Jeffrey Herlings.
After many years and countless victories with KTM, the powerful Dutch champion has made the switch to Giacomo Gariboldi’s Team HRC Honda.

The Tazio Nuvolari Circuit will immediately provide an exciting opportunity to see Herlings in action against one of his main rivals this season: Tim Gajser on Yamaha. A duel not to be missed at the Internazionali d’Italia on February 8.

Interview with Jeffrey Herlings

Hi Jeffrey. We’re starting a new season with many changes, beginning with the bike. How did the first winter tests go?
“Good! We made some solid improvements in the short time we had. Soon we’ll see how it works out in race situations.”

Your rivals see you once again as one of the riders to beat in 2026. How does that feel?
“Riding a Honda certainly changes things. For my rivals it won’t be easy to know what to expect from someone who always keeps fighting.”

How will you approach the first race of the world championship?
“It’s a long championship and consistency will be the key. Everything is new: new gear, new team, new bike. That definitely makes it a challenge.”

The Italian Internationals are an important test towards 2026. What will you focus on most?
“Taking it as a practice race for the GPs, to see where we stand.”

We saw an interview where you mentioned doing a lot of training races. Can you tell us more about that?
“Just winter preparation for the season. A lot of endurance motos to build a strong fitness base and to get to know the new bike better.”

Your riding style has always been aggressive and you always give everything. Will that change with Honda?
“I’ll keep trying to give my best, just like I did with my previous team. Hopefully that will be rewarded with good results for both myself and the team.”

Finally, who would you like to dedicate a thought to: one for your past and one for your future?
“Thanks to KTM for the amazing past 17 years. Now the full focus is on Honda.”
