Opening day of the eighty-first edition of EICMA, the international two-wheel exhibition. In the MotoLive Area, the full of adrenaline container where riders from different racing disciplines compete, the spotlight was turned on the renovated Race Arena, dominated by the maxi stage that found a new location between the Freestyle Area and the Racing Area in a sunny Day 1 of EICMA 2024.
Champion Charity Race Rally – Great success for the first Champion Charity Race Rally which today saw 16 champions compete on the dirt and sand track of Motolive to win the prize pool of €5,000, put up for grabs by EICMA and entirely donated to A.I.C.I. (Bambini Cardiopatici nel Mondo) and withdrawn by the Operations Director of A.I.C.I. Silvia Castoldi. At the end of the race, in which Danilo Petrucci (Ducati), Alex Polita (MV Agusta) and Alessandro Botturi (Yamaha) were present, the winner was the former Enduro World Champion Johnny Aubert (KTM) who in the final beat the phenomenal Alex Salvini riding the Fantic Caballero with which he drove the crowd crazy. Third place for the Spanish Kirian Mirabet (Honda) who lost in the semifinal to the Frenchman at the end of an incredible duel.
Superenduro – At the end of the two heats, Steve Holcombe (Honda) took the top step of the Superenduro podium; after the victory in race one ahead of Teodor Abakchiev (Sherco) and Andrea Verona (GASGAS), the British rider also got the better of his opponents in race two, starting third behind Morgan Lesiardo (Husqvarna) who took the Tissot Hole-shot and Verona, Holcombe found the best lines, first passing the E2 World Champion and then Lesiardo who finished in second place, without however managing to get on the podium, finishing 4th overall behind the Bulgarian, with Verona second overall.
Just1 FMI Italian E-Bike Cross Championship – After the first round of the Championship held in Gorla (VA), the Just1 FMI Italian E-Bike Cross Championship returned to the track in the MotoLive area of EICMA, where the penultimate round of the series took place today and will end tomorrow in front of the public who have crowded the stands since the early hours of the morning. In EX1, Alessandro Nobile (Mondraker Craf) continues his solitary march, taking home the 50 points, rising to 125. In EX250 Open, success for Tommaso Bianchetti (Specialized) who takes home both EICMA heats, ahead of championship leader Andrea Pignotti (Polini) who still leads the standings and closes the first day at MotoLive ahead of Maurizio Baraccani (Fulgur Polini). In EXJ, success for Christian Buniva (Elettrabike) who conquers the red plate of the class, while in EXS Alex Costa (Elettrabike) wins, taking home the leader of the standings Giorgio Luppi (Leaderfox) and Massimo Ballati (Fulgur Polini). Matteo Medizza (Talaria) takes his second consecutive success and confirms his lead in the Dirt Evo championship by winning ahead of Marcello Disetti (Eboost) and Andrea Tull (Talaria). In the Dirt Bike Open, viceroy for the red plate of the series, Simone Angeretti (Eboost) who confirms himself ahead of Manuel Favaretto (Eboost) and Ivan Negri (Talaria). In the Dirk Bike Stock Tomaso Giupponi (Talaria) collects a 3rd and a 2nd place that are enough for him to climb on the highest step of the podium ahead of Mattia Bragonzi (Talaria) and Colin Bendotti (SWM), with the leader Samuele Manuzzi (Talaria), 5th of the day.
