Douwe van Mechgelen’s EMX250 season has come to an early end. The young Belgian rider from Team Seven Motorsport, competing on a KTM, has decided not to race again this season as further medical examinations are needed to assess his physical condition.
Van Mechgelen suffered a heavy crash during last weekend’s EMX250 race in Sweden, sustaining, among other injuries, a concussion and a bruised lung. It has now become clear that additional examinations are required to get a complete picture of his condition.
As a result, his EMX season comes to an earlier end than hoped. Van Mechgelen will now focus on getting clarity about his situation and making a full recovery, so that he can begin his preparations for the 2027 season without any problems.
Douwe van Mechgelen: “That’s it for me in the EMX this year. It’s not the way I wanted it to end, but some things are more important than racing. More examinations are needed to get a complete picture of what’s going on. We’re going to sort this out so that I can start preparing for next year without any problems.”
