Aaron Plessinger has shared an update on social media following his early exit from the RedBud National. The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider crashed in the opening corner of the first moto and was unable to continue the race.
Plessinger got off to a strong start but went down in the very first corner. While lying on the ground, he was struck from behind by another rider. The impact tore his riding pants and left him with a deep laceration near his tailbone.
The American was immediately treated by the Alpinestars Medical Unit, where the wound was cleaned and stitched. Fortunately, further examinations confirmed that he did not suffer any broken bones.
“First of all, I want to thank everyone who has reached out to check on me. RedBud definitely didn’t go the way I had hoped. It’s incredibly frustrating to crash in the very first corner. I got a great start, but then I went down and was hit from behind by another rider. The impact ripped my riding pants and left me with a pretty nasty cut near my tailbone. The crew from the Alpinestars Medical Unit took great care of me by cleaning and stitching the wound, and I’m really grateful for everything they did. As frustrating as this is, I’m mostly thankful that it wasn’t any worse and that nothing is broken. Now it’s all about letting the wound heal properly so I can get back to racing as soon as possible. Thanks again for all the support. Hopefully this dark cloud hanging over me will pass soon.”
