Stand In Rider For Apico Honda

It is with regret that we must inform you that Josh Gilbert’s shoulder injury at Preston Docks was worse than we first thought. Josh had to have shoulder surgery last week to fix things and, all being well, should join us towards the end of the season after a recovery period.

The team owners decided to opt for a fill-in rider during this period, and we’d like to welcome Apico MX1 Championship rider Tom Murphy to the team. Tom has been an Apico-supported rider for many years, and after showing some promise, Tom has welcomed the opportunity and will join the team at Lyng for the 3rd round of the Motul British Motocross Championship.

Dylan: “After learning more about Josh’s prognosis, we had to accept it wasn’t feasible to continue riding with his injury. The whole team wishes him a speedy recovery, and we hope to see him back with us towards the end of the season, once he’s had a chance to heal and rebuild his strength in his shoulder. Tom Murphy has been part of the Apico family for several years, and with him riding a Honda CRF450 2026 already this season, Anna and I decided to offer him the chance to fill in whilst Josh is recovering, and he was happy to accept the offer. We hope this opportunity will give him further motivation with his motocross career and results in the championship.

Tom: “I’d like to thank Dylan and Anna for the opportunity to be part of the Apico Honda team. I’m looking forward to being under the awning with Tom Grimshaw and pushing myself to do the best I can for the team and sponsors. I wish Josh well with his recovery and hope to see him back racing with the team soon”.
