The third round of the French 24MX Tour championship did not disappoint. After an intense first day, Yaggar Townley (3/1) took the win in the talent class, ahead of Tim Lopes (1/3) and Kenzo Jaspers (2/2). Next stop: Vesoul next Saturday for round #4.
Less than a year after hosting the Junior World Championship for the first time, the MC of Romagné once again warmly welcomed the young and talented riders of the 24MX Tour in the talent class. Alongside the regular championship contenders, several well-known guest riders were present, including Dutchman Kenzo Jaspers, winner of the season opener in Castelnau-de-Lévis, and Jaggar Townley, son of New Zealander Ben, former MX2 world champion and AMA SX 250 champion. The event featured perfect weather conditions, a well-prepared track, and two exciting races.
Tim Lopes, who arrived in Brittany as the championship leader, immediately made his mark by convincingly winning the first moto. Grabbing the holeshot and leading from the start, the Bud Racing rider controlled the race from beginning to end, securing his third moto win of the season. Behind him, Louis Morette (P4) held second place for a long time before being overtaken in the closing stages by the international riders Kenzo Jaspers (P2) and Jaggar Townley (P3). Eros Di Carlo Di Benedetto completed the top five, ahead of Lenny Pichon, Louis Boutet, and Saint-Jean winner Mathys Agullo.
Second moto and overall win for Townley!
In the second moto, Jaggar Townley delivered an impressive performance. After taking the holeshot, the young Yamaha rider quickly opened a gap and dominated the race with a flawless ride. Behind him, Kenzo Jaspers and Tim Lopes battled fiercely, with Jaspers ultimately coming out on top. Lenny Pichon also had a strong ride, finishing fourth just ahead of Louis Boutet. Ryan Grondin finished sixth, ahead of young French team rider Conrad Pinchon.
The overall victory went to Townley (3/1), tied on points with Lopes (1/3) but winning thanks to a better result in the second moto. Kenzo Jaspers (2/2) finished third overall. In the championship standings, Lopes retains the red plate, which he will carry into next week’s round in Vesoul.
