Jens Walvoort of BTS Racing secured a podium finish at the Dutch MX Season Opener in Lierop. Walvoort delivered a very strong performance in the first moto, crossing the finish line in second place. In the second moto, he finished fourth, placing him third in the overall standings for the day. Wesly Dieudonne also put in a strong effort, making up positions in both motos to finish eighth overall!
Walvoort immediately felt good on the track. During time practice, he maintained a high pace on the demanding sand circuit and set an impressive second-fastest time in his group. This gave him confidence going into the first moto. Dieudonne was in the same group and set the 14th fastest time.
At the start of the first moto, Walvoort got off to a great start and quickly moved into second place. He maintained a strong pace throughout the race, holding his position lap after lap. Despite several attacks from the riders in third and fourth place, he remained composed and secured a solid second-place finish.
Dieudonne, on the other hand, had a difficult start and had to work his way through the pack. By the end of the first lap, he was in 15th place but continued to push forward, eventually finishing in a strong 11th position.
In the second moto, Walvoort once again had an excellent start. He narrowly missed the holeshot but was able to start the race within the leading group. However, he struggled to find his rhythm and suffered a crash, dropping back to fifth place. He recovered well in the second half of the race and managed to climb back up to fourth. Dieudonne once again put in an impressive comeback ride. This time, he had to fight his way back from outside the top 20. On the tough sand circuit, he found a strong rhythm and worked his way up to a solid ninth-place finish.
With a 2-4 result in the motos, Walvoort secured third place in the overall standings, while Dieudonne claimed eighth place.
Meanwhile, Oriol Oliver competed in the second round of the Spanish Championship in Chiclana de la Frontera. Oliver won both motos, further strengthening his lead in the championship standings.
Next weekend, BTS Racing will compete in the first round of the World Championship in Córdoba, Argentina.
