Lotte van Drunen wins her home Grand Prix in Arnhem

Lotte van Drunen of the De Baets MX team managed to win her home Grand Prix in Arnhem. Van Drunen managed to win both motos and took her third overall win of the season.

Van Drunen came to Arnhem with a three-point lead over the runner-up. She was really looking forward to it and felt at home on the track on Saturday morning. In time practice, however, things did not go as hoped and after several attempts she ended up with the second fastest time, while her Spanish protagonist managed to clock the fastest time.

At the start of the first moto, Lotte chose the inside and knew she had to be fast out of the gate. This worked out well as Lotte got away really well and managed to take the lead. She was under pressure through all the moto but she kept her head cool. After a strong race she won and the biggest pressure was off her shoulders.

At the start of the second moto, Lotte got away well again and managed to take the first corner in the lead. Lotte took no big risks and made a small gap. Due to a meow flag situation her gap became a little smaller. She was aware of this and picked up the pace again. This was enough to win the race. With a double moto win, Lotte won her third race this season. In the world championship standings, she managed to increase her lead to 17 points. In just under three weeks, the final race will be held in Turkey.

Tyla van de Poel and Brent van de Walle were riding in the EMX125 class. It started well as Tyla managed to qualify second in his group and Brent was also there with a twentieth time. In the first moto, Tyla managed to take five points with sixteenth position but unfortunately he had a mechanical problem in the second moto and had to retire from the race. Brent managed to finish 32nd and 25th in the motos.

Benoit Paturel had a difficult weekend in the MXGP class and unfortunately did not manage to score.

The De Baets MX team will now travel to Switzerland for the next round of the World Championship in Frauenfeld this weekend.
