Quentin Prugnieres of F&H Racing finished ninth in the tenth round of the MX2 World Championship in Maggiora, Italy. Prugnieres managed to finish in the top ten in both heats and finished ninth in the day’s results with a 9-10 in the heats.
Prugnieres started the weekend enthusiastically and was motivated to hunt for the top ten places again. In the time training he achieved a tenth fastest time. The conditions were wet and muddy due to the rainfall, which required concentrated riding. In the qualifying heat things immediately went wrong for Prugnieres because he crashed and therefore had to come back from behind the field. He managed to finish fifteenth but was determined to do better in the heats on Sunday.
In the first heat he had a very consistent race. He worked his way up to seventh place in the early stages and managed to hold on until the closing stages. However, with four laps to go he dropped back to ninth place, where he eventually finished.
The start of the second heat was less good, but Prugnieres still came out of the first lap just outside the top ten. It didn’t take long for him to take over tenth place. There was a gap to the ninth man, so Prugnieres chose to take no big risks and opted for tenth place.
With a 9-10 in the heats, Prugnieres finished in ninth place in the overall standings. Prugnieres occupies tenth place in the world championship standings after the race in Maggiora. In a week and a half the team will travel to Indonesia for the next two races of the world championship.
Courtney Duncan made her comeback in Maggiora after her knee operation. She started the weekend convincingly by setting the fastest time in the timed training. Due to the rain and heavy track conditions, it was decided to cancel the first moto and go for only one moto on Sunday. Conditions were slightly better on Sunday but still very treacherous. After the start, Duncan immediately suffered a setback because she crashed in the slippery conditions and had to play catch up. She came from the back of the field to fifth place, but unfortunately she ran into problems a few more times during the heat, eventually having to settle for eleventh place. Duncan now has about two months to get fully fit again for the next Grand Prix, which will be held in Arnhem, Netherlands.
