Jeffrey Herlings managed to win the first moto of the MXGP in Latvia in the mud ahead of Tim Gajser and Glenn Coldenhoff. Brian Bogers came home in a strong fourth in front of Calvin Vlaanderen. Jorge Prado crashed in the early stages and did not get further than a seventh place.
