Courtney Duncan of F&H Racing finished second in the third race of the women’s world championship in Lugo, Spain. Duncan won the first heat and also led the second heat for a long time, but came second, meaning she also finished second overall.
The Lugo circuit was new to everyone. Duncan therefore used her time in free practice to get used to the track. In time practice she set the third fastest time and thus secured an ideal starting position for the heats.
In the first heat it was Duncan who made the holeshot and led the field through the first corner. She set a high pace and managed to hold off the ladies riding behind her. She faced several attacks, but Duncan kept a cool head and won the heat.
Duncan also took the lead in the second moto. She managed to hold onto first place for a long time, but in the second part of the race she was passed and fell back to second place. Duncan tried everything to regain the lead but was unable to do so and finished in a close second place.
With a 1-2 in the heats, Duncan finished second overall in Spain.
Quentin Prugnieres qualified eighth for the MX2 race on Saturday and had a good time on the technical circuit. In the first moto on Sunday, Prugnieres got a bad start and had a lot of work to do. Giving everything he had, he had some good battles and managed to finish twelfth.
In the second moto he crashed during the first lap and lost a lot of time. Prugnieres tried to get back into the points, but just failed to do so with a twenty-first place finish.
Due to the zero score in the second heat, Prugnieres finished in seventeenth place overall and remains in twelfth place in the world championship standings. His home Grand Prix in France is scheduled for this coming weekend.
