FIM World Supercross Championship welcomes Motocross legend Kurt Nicoll as Senior Consultant of Racing Development
With preparations for the 2024 season in full swing, the FIM World Supercross Championship (FIM WSX) is delighted to welcome Motocross legend, Kurt Nicoll, to its leadership group as Senior Consultant of Racing Development.
Kurt, who is a master of his craft, was an icon of the Motocross Grand Prix World Championships in the late 1980s and early 1990s and claimed seven British Motocross Championship titles during his competitive career.
After retiring from professional racing, Kurt transitioned from the role of rider to manager, opening KTM England as Racing Director before moving to Mattighofen, Austria, as Factory KTM’s Worldwide Race Director.
Alongside serving as KTM North America’s Motorsports Director, Kurt worked with KTM as its Director of Racing from 1999-2009 before joining Nitro Circus as General Manager and Head of Global Touring.
By joining FIM WSX, Kurt brings a wealth of experience and knowledge and will use his expertise from every aspect of the sport to drive the continued long-term growth of the Championship, which will be promoted by SX Global (SXG) for the next 10 years, until 2033. This agreement includes the option of an additional decade.
With plans for the 2024 FIM World Supercross Championship set to be unveiled in the coming weeks, the series will enter new territories across multiple continents in events featuring star-studded rider rosters, including the return of two-time reigning champion, Ken Roczen.
