Infront Moto Racing is proud to continue its partnership with Acerbis for the Acerbis Best Lap Competition, a highlight of the 2026 FIM Motocross World Championship.
This season once again delivered unforgettable action across MXGP and MX2, with the Acerbis Best Lap awards shining a spotlight on the riders who combined speed, focus, and determination to clock the fastest laps of the year.
How does the competition work?
At the end of each Grand Prix, the rider who records the fastest lap in their respective class, MXGP and MX2, earns one point in the Acerbis Best Lap Competition. The rider with the most points at the end of the season takes home the Acerbis Best Lap Award, officially presented during the MXGP Awards ceremony.

Honda HRC Petronas’ Jeffrey Herlings backed up his 2026 MXGP World Championship with outright speed, securing the MXGP Acerbis Best Lap Award with 9 fastest laps across the 19-round season, almost half of all Grands Prix.
Taking both the MXGP World Championship and the Acerbis Best Lap Award in the same season underlines how complete Herlings’ 2026 campaign was, combining race-winning consistency with the ability to set the pace whenever it mattered.
Behind him, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Lucas Coenen finished with 7 fastest laps, all of them in the first ten rounds, before Herlings took control and set the fastest lap at eight of the last nine Grands Prix. Kawasaki Racing Team’s Romain Febvre posted 2, while Honda HRC Petronas’ Tom Vialle claimed 1 at the season opener in Bariloche.
In MX2, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Sacha Coenen delivered blistering pace all season long to secure the MX2 Acerbis Best Lap Award with 8 fastest laps, representing 42% of the season’s races. His win keeps the Acerbis Best Lap Award in the Coenen family for a third straight year, after his brother Lucas took it in MX2 in 2024 and in MXGP in 2025.
Just behind, Triumph Factory Racing Team’s Guillem Farres, the newly crowned MX2 World Champion, finished with 5, followed by Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Simon Längenfelder with 3, Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Liam Everts with 2 and Triumph Factory Racing Team’s Camden McLellan with 1, which shows the tightness in the series this year.
Jeffrey Herlings and Sacha Coenen were honoured with their Acerbis Best Lap Awards during the 2026 MXGP Awards in Darwin, Australia on Sunday 20th September, held in the garden of the Mindil Casino Resort. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team Coordinator Micol Muraglia collected the MX2 award on behalf of the absent Coenen.
The event was streamed live globally on MXGP-TV, YouTube, and Facebook, allowing fans worldwide to celebrate motocross’s fastest riders.
