Unfortunately, Nicolas Vennekens’ competitive season has come to an early end. The young Belgian has been dealing with severe fatigue for some time and has not ridden a motorcycle since April.
Over the past period, Vennekens underwent several medical examinations. Eventually, he was referred to a professor specializing in exercise physiology. Further tests revealed that he is suffering from an inflammation in his body. According to the medical findings, this inflammation affects the junction between the small and large intestine, allowing bacteria to enter the body more easily.
As a result, his body is constantly working to fight these bacteria, which explains the extreme fatigue Vennekens has been experiencing for some time.
Vennekens has now been undergoing an intensive treatment program for two weeks, involving special medication administered through injections. The expectation is that his condition will gradually improve following the treatment.
Vennekens’ competitive season is now officially over. The main focus is on making a full recovery, with the hope that he will eventually be able to gradually resume training on the motorcycle.
Nicolas and the team would like to thank all of their sponsors for their continued support and are determined to come back stronger.
