Zach Osborne will make his comeback to the AMA Pro Motocross Championship this weekend at Unadilla. Five years after stepping away from professional racing due to ongoing back problems, the now 36-year-old American will line up behind the gate once again in the 450 class. Osborne will compete on a factory Beta.
The four-time AMA champion, who won the 450 title in 2020, ended his career after the 2021 season. An initial attempt to return in 2022 was cut short when his health issues resurfaced. However, Osborne never completely stepped away from motorsports. In 2023, he competed in the GNCC Championship with support from Yamaha and later became a Beta ambassador in the United States.
In recent weeks, Osborne has already impressed during the amateur races at Loretta Lynn’s. He won both the Junior +25 and Open Pro Sport classes. In the Junior +25 class, he even won all three motos.
Now, an official return to the highest level of American outdoor motocross follows. Osborne will line up on Saturday, August 15, in the 450MX class at Unadilla and is also expected to compete in the final two rounds of the season at Budds Creek and Ironman.
This means Osborne will join Benny Bloss and Mitchell Oldenburg on the official Beta team. Unadilla is set to feature a strong field, with Aaron Plessinger, Justin Cooper and Malcolm Stewart also returning to action this weekend.
