Guillem Farres won the opening MX2 moto in Montevarchi. Behind the Spaniard, red plate holder Sacha Coenen finished second, while Simon Längenfelder completed the top three.
Farres started the race outside the top five but quickly worked his way forward with impressive pace on the narrow and fast Italian circuit. Sacha Coenen struggled during the early stages; despite taking the holeshot, he dropped back to fourth place before regrouping and fighting his way back to second.
Simon Längenfelder led for much of the race but was unable to prevent Farres from passing him on lap six. In the closing stages, he was also overtaken by Coenen and had to settle for third.
Belgian rider Liam Everts finished fourth. Kay Karssemakers crossed the line in twelfth place, while Jens Walvoort finished nineteenth.
