Lucas Coenen won the MXGP qualifying race. The Belgian rounded the first corner in the lead and never relinquished it.
Tom Vialle stayed close behind Coenen throughout the race but was unable to pass the championship leader. Andrea Adamo finished third in front of his home crowd, ahead of Kay de Wolf and Tim Gajser.
Jeffrey Herlings crashed in the early stages and had to restart his race from outside the top fifteen. He eventually finished ninth, but more notably, he set the fastest lap of the race in the penultimate lap.
Roan van de Moosdijk finished in fifteenth place. Calvin Vlaanderen, after a recovery ride, had to settle for sixteenth. Rick Elzinga finished 27th, while his teammate Jago Geerts retired from the race in the opening lap.
