Preview MXGP of Arco di Trento

The fifth round of the FIM Motocross World Championship takes place in Arco di Trento, located in the Trentino region (South Tyrol). This iconic circuit provides the first real test of the season on a classic hard-pack surface, immediately creating a different dynamic compared to the previous sand races.

In the MXGP class, championship leader Lucas Coenen will be looking to defend his red plate. The switch to a hard track makes this round particularly interesting, as the balance of power is often different here.

All the big names appear to be fit and ready at the gate, promising an exciting battle. Based on last year, Tim Gajser is a key rider to watch. The Slovenian dominated the event with wins in both motos and will also line up this weekend with a special Valentino Rossi livery.

Romain Febvre also stood on the podium last year and will once again aim for a top result. Current title contenders Jeffrey Herlings and Coenen had more difficult races here in 2025 (finishing ninth and fourth respectively), but arrive this time in stronger form and with greater confidence.

It will also be interesting to see what Tom Vialle can do on the hard surface. The Frenchman has already impressed in the sand, but Arco presents a different challenge. The same applies to Kay de Wolf, who is showing strong development in the MXGP class.

In the MX2 class, Simon Langenfelder leads the standings and will aim to extend his advantage. The German performed strongly here last year with a fourth-place finish and is once again considered one of the favorites. Notably, the entire podium from last year has since moved up to the MXGP class. Andrea Adamo took the win ahead of De Wolf and Thibault Benistant. Sacha Coenen (seventh in 2025) will also be eager to fight at the front again, while several young talents will have the opportunity to prove themselves on a completely different type of circuit.
