The 2025 MXGP of Türkiye officially opened with a warm welcome ceremony at the Afyon Motor Sports Center, part of the Afyon MotoFest. Riders, teams and fans gathered to centre stage of the Motofest to celebrate round 18 of the FIM Motocross World Championship.
The event was attended by a full lineup of dignitaries and officials, including CEO of Infront Moto Racing David Luongo alongside FIM/CMS Director Antonio Alia Portela and Mehmet Sadık Vefa, representing the Türkiye Motorcycle Federation. Also in attendance was Ahmet Ali Temurci from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, International Organization & Foreign Relations General Directorate, together with Burcu Köksal, Mayor of Afyonkarahisar. The local representation was further highlighted by Afyonkarahisar Deputies Mehmet Taytak, Hasan Arslan, Ali Özkaya and Hakan Şeref Olgun. Completing the line-up of distinguished guests was Vice Governor of Afyonkarahisar, Vali Vekili Ali Uysal.
Each official addressed the audience, underlining the joy to have motocross once again coming to Afyon and highlighted the amazing competition and suspense that this season is delivering with both MXGP and MX2 title still very much undecided.
The ceremony included the presence of the riders from MXGP, MX2, WMX and EMX250 categories, who joined the stage to soak in the festive atmosphere of the MotoFest and take part in the traditional family photo even if the weather took a sudden turn during the speeches, as wind and rain swept across the venue. This sped up the official group photo process, which was carried out quickly but cheerfully in front of the enthusiastic crowd.
The warm Turkish hospitality once again set the tone for a spectacular weekend of world-class motocross action for this MXGP of Turkiye.
