The hard-packed and stony’ Glimminge Motorstadion’ circuit, Uddevalla, will stage the Swedish Grand Prix for the 26th time in its history. This venue has been a staple of the FIM Motocross World Championship since 2001, missing only a few rounds in 2016, 2018, and the pandemic years of 2020 and 2021.
As the 2025 MXGP series enters its final five rounds, Calvin Vlaanderen aims to close the 31-point gap to fourth in the MXGP Championship Standings. Having secured two podium finishes over the past month, the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP ace looks to keep the momentum as he arrives in Uddevalla with happy memories of a race win and podium finish in 2019.
Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP’s Maxime Renaux is zeroed in on rebuilding his base fitness after battling through a string of injuries. The 25-year-old Frenchman has a fondness of Uddevalla, a track where he’s celebrated success before, including an MXGP race win in 2023. On the flip side, the team will miss Jago Geerts this weekend. After a heavy fall in the opening race in Lommel, Belgium, ten days ago, Geerts has been managing some discomfort in his left knee. A medical assessment has since revealed a bone contusion, leading to the decision for the Belgian to sit out the Grand Prix this weekend to focus on his recovery.
The Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 team arrives in Uddevalla determined to rebound after a tough Grand Prix in Belgium. Rick Elzinga brings confidence from his 2023 performance at the venue, where he earned his first-ever top-three race finish. Meanwhile, Karlis Reisulis regards Uddevalla as one of the best tracks on the calendar and sees it as a chance to demonstrate his potential. Thibault Benistant looks forward to seeing what he can do on a circuit that complements his technical style. Despite missing the last two Swedish Grands Prix through injury, the 23-year-old Frenchman relishes racing in Sweden and aims to regain his usual speed and rhythm.
VHR VRT Yamaha Official EMX250’s Janis Reisulis carries the EMX250 Championship red plate into Uddevalla, holding a 28-point advantage over Noel Zancocz with three rounds remaining. The 16-year-old Latvian aims to extend his lead, while teammate Ivano van Erp is steadily progressing back up the ranks after missing three rounds through injury. The Dutch talent, who won the EMX250 round of Sweden last year, arrives 10th in the standings and is determined to replicate that success.
“I had some days off to recover from Lommel, and I also raced in Belgium at the weekend to keep my race rhythm and enjoyed it. Sweden is a nice track — I like the dirt there, and they’ve changed the layout, which is always good. I’ve had a race win and a podium there in the past. My goal is to continue my midseason form, get good starts and fight at the front.”
— Calvin Vlaanderen, 4th MXGP World Championship Standings, 436-points
“I have been working hard since Lommel. I’ve obviously missed some hours of training and bike time this year, so I am working to get that back. I like the track in Sweden, I have some nice memories there winning an MXGP race there and have had some good results. I’m looking to keep building my form, and to improve ride after ride.”
— Maxime Renaux, 7th MXGP World Championship Standings, 347-points
“I’ve just focused on training and recovery over the past week. I look forward to Sweden, I like the layout of the track and the ground is quite nice to ride. As always, my aim is to get good starts and to ride free.”
— Thibault Benistant, 5th MX2 World Championship Standings, 513-points
” Another normal week. Just training hard. I like Sweden actually. It’s a nice track, one of my favourite tracks on the calendar. I’ve not had any amazing results there in the past, but I’m looking to change that this weekend, so my goal is the same as always, hammer down!”
— Karlis Reisulis, 12th MX2 Championship Standings, 274-points
“The past week, I’ve just been putting hours on the bike. I really like Sweden, not just the track, but also the country; it’s beautiful. I’ve had some good memories there, like my first ever top-three finish in a race in MX2 in 2023, so I’m looking forward to going back and I hope to finish closer to the top six.”
— Rick Elzinga, 16th MX2 Championship Standings, 210-points
