Nicolas Vennekens Comes Close to Scoring Points in Loket

Nicolas Vennekens of VNT KTM Racing came close to scoring points during the fourteenth round of the MX2 World Championship in Loket, Czech Republic.

The weekend in Loket started off dry on Saturday morning, but conditions changed after time practice when rain set in, leaving the track wet and muddy for the qualifying heat. Vennekens qualified 28th for the races but remained determined to deliver a stronger performance on Sunday under improved conditions and to battle for points.

In the first moto, Vennekens came through the opening lap in 26th place. He found a solid rhythm and quickly moved up to 22nd. He fought hard throughout the race to maintain and improve his position but was unable to gain more spots, crossing the finish line in 22nd.

In the second moto, Vennekens again started just outside the top twenty. After a strong opening phase, he climbed from 23rd to 21st. Unfortunately, his charge was cut short due to a mechanical issue that forced him to retire from the race.

Nicolas Vennekens commented:

“For me, this was the best Grand Prix of the year so far. Saturday’s riding went well, although I did come into contact with another rider and picked up a graze on my shoulder. On Sunday, I had two good motos, but it’s a shame that I had to retire from the second one after 20 minutes due to mechanical failure.”

Vennekens’ next race will be his home Grand Prix in Lommel, taking place this coming weekend.
