Teutschenthal marks the halfway point of the 2025 MXGP World Championship series, with Honda HRC trio Ruben Fernandez, Ferruccio Zanchi and Valerio Lata all lining up to take on challenge in eastern Germany.
Fernandez missed this race last year due to injury, but had a successful 2023 edition, when he made the podium with three-four results. And with podiums already in Portugal and Spain, he hopes to get back on the box when they take to the tight, twisty circuit which normally develops deep ruts. It isn’t the Spaniard’s favourite track on the calendar, but the 2023 result has given him a boost that he can perform well there.
Another rider who is now getting the taste for potential podiums is Lata, who had his best results of the season last time out in France. A third in race one marked a big step up for the Italian rider and then to finish fifth overall, just a couple of points away from podium has given him a lot of encouragement that it won’t be long now before he is up there spraying champagne.
Zanchi was doing exactly that in the second round of the season, in Cozar, Spain after winning the first moto there but struggled recently in Ernee, France to reach those same heights. Consistency is proving to be difficult to maintain in this highly competitive MX2 class and as such heading into each weekend is tough, but the youngster has had good results in the past at this circuit so enjoys riding there and wants to get back to that early season form.

After the podiums in Portugal and Spain, Ernee was a bit of a disappointment because I still felt good, but I couldn’t get the results I wanted. Still, Germany should go better and although it isn’t my favourite track, it is a place I have got on the podium before, so I know I have the capacity to make it happen again. I need to avoid all the chaos on the opening lap and just ride like I know how to ride, and I really think I get up in front of the fans once again.

I really wasn’t very happy with how Ernee went. I know I am better than those results, but I also know I have to make it happen myself. I do like riding at Teutschenthal so hopefully this should be a better weekend for me and I can start to challenge nearer the front of the field again and enjoy my riding a bit more.

It was great to get third in race one in France. It is nice to know I am improving and the work that everyone is doing, is paying off. Now the goal is to try and make that happen in both races so I can get myself onto the podium. I feel like this could be a good weekend for me and I head there full of confidence and with a strong belief I can get it done.

This is the middle of the season and the middle of three races in a row, so it’s a good marker for how we want the second half of the campaign to go. We’ve had some good moments already, with each of the riders and although we’re missing Tim, the other guys are doing a great job and we can see progress is being made for all of them.
