Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing will not make any riders available for the 2026 Motocross of Nations in Ernée, France. In consultation with Yamaha Motor USA, the team has decided to withdraw both its 250 and 450 teams from the selection process for the prestigious international event.
Yamaha cites the demanding SMX season schedule, the health and recovery of its riders and team members, as well as the logistical challenges and costs associated with participating in the MXoN as the main reasons for the decision.
According to Yamaha Racing Manager Jim Roach, the decision was made following several discussions between the team leadership and Yamaha management.
Jim Roach: “After several discussions between the team leadership and Yamaha management, Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing and Yamaha Motor USA have jointly made the difficult decision to take a step back from participating in the MXoN this year.”
Yamaha wants to give its riders and staff sufficient time to recover following the long American season. In addition, travelling to France involves additional logistical challenges, including shipping the motorcycles and modifying them to comply with FIM regulations.
“We have chosen to prioritize the health and safety of our riders. That also means giving them and the entire team time to recover from the 2026 season. When you also consider the logistical challenges and costs involved in shipping and modifying the motorcycles to meet FIM specifications, we want to keep our focus on preparing for the 2027 SMX season,” Roach said.
The decision means that any potential American candidates from the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing lineup will not be available for the MXoN in Ernée. The team thanks the AMA for considering them and also expresses its appreciation to the fans, partners and motocross community for their understanding.
