The Gebben van Venrooy KTM team travelled to Ernee, France, for the ninth round of the MX2 World Championship. Known for its technical layout and typically hard-pack surface, the French circuit provided a challenging test for the riders.
Cas Valk came into race day with confidence, especially after a strong qualifying race saw him cross the line in seventh place. Feeling good on the bike, he was motivated for a positive Sunday. However, bad starts in both motos left him with work to do.
In the opening moto, the Dutch youngster pushed hard to make up ground but suffered two crashes in the process. The mistakes proved costly, and he had to settle for 16th place.
Race two was a much stronger showing. Valk rode a more controlled and consistent moto to take a solid ninth-place finish. He closed right up on Mathis Valin in the final stages and pushed to make a move for eighth but ultimately ran out of time.
Next up for the team is the Grand Prix of Germany as the series reaches its halfway mark. In addition to Valk in MX2, the team will also welcome Lynn Valk back under the awning for round three of the Women’s Motocross World Championship (WMX).
Cas Valk (11th overall): Eleventh for me in France, the results don’t show that the weekend wasn’t too bad. I made two silly mistakes in race one that cost me a better result, but riding was good. I am looking forward to Germany this weekend!
