Only 11 days to go until the grand finale of the Dutch Masters of Motocross in Markelo. On Sunday, May 18, the final points for this prestigious championship will be awarded, and we’ll find out who the 2025 champions will be.
Following the second round in Oldebroek, Torre and Douwe van Mechgelen, Cas Valk, and Romain Febvre were presented with the 24MX Red Plate Awards. Whether they can hold on to these in Markelo remains to be seen!
Romain Febvre appears to be on course for his first Dutch Masters title in the 500cc class. He holds a 26-point lead over Jago Geerts, with Andrea Bonacorsi trailing by 32 points. Febvre will certainly face strong competition in Markelo from five-time World Champion Jeffrey Herlings, who is returning to top form.
Cas Valk is the clear favorite in the 250cc class. So far, he has won all four motos and holds a 32-point lead over David Braceras, with Janis Martins Reisulis 37 points behind. Reigning champion Rick Elzinga has struggled with injuries early in the season but will no doubt give his all to deliver a strong performance in Markelo.
The 125cc class is also shaping up for an exciting finale. Douwe van Mechgelen leads the standings, but with just a 5-point advantage over Dean Gregoire, anything can still happen. Dani Heitink sits in third, ahead of Timo Heuver and Vencislav Toshev.
The 85cc class is far from decided as well, with Torre van Mechgelen and Lucas Leok currently tied in points. Harry Dale trails by only six points, and Casey Karstrom is just eight points behind. This battle promises plenty of fireworks.
