Jorge Prado wins SMX Playoff 2 in Los Angeles

The penultimate round of the 2026 Monster Energy SMX World Championship took place in Southern California during Playoff 2 at Dignity Health Sports Park. Unlike the rain-soaked conditions of the opening playoff round in Columbus, riders faced sunny and dry conditions in Los Angeles.

In the 450SMX Class, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jorge Prado claimed his first SMX Playoff victory. He won the overall classification with two second-place finishes. In the 250SMX Class, Julien Beaumer secured another victory for KTM.

450SMX Class

Jorge Prado grabbed the holeshot in the opening moto ahead of Cooper Webb and Haiden Deegan. Ken Roczen then moved into second and passed Prado midway through the race. Roczen won the first moto ahead of Prado and Deegan, with Hunter Lawrence fourth and Cooper Webb fifth.

In the second moto, Hunter Lawrence took the holeshot, but Prado quickly moved into the lead. Lawrence reclaimed the position shortly afterwards. Prado crashed in the sand halfway through the race and dropped to fourth, but fought his way back through the field to finish second.

Lawrence won the second moto by 14.9 seconds. Prado finished second, with Deegan third and Roczen fourth.

With a 2-2 score, Prado won the overall classification. Lawrence finished second overall with 4-1, while Roczen was third with 1-4. Deegan finished fourth overall and Webb fifth.

Prado extended his lead in the SMX World Championship standings thanks to the double points on offer. He now holds a 16-point lead over Haiden Deegan and Hunter Lawrence, who are tied for second. Roczen is fourth, 18 points behind the leader, while Webb sits fifth, 20 points back.

250SMX Class

Julien Beaumer dominated the opening moto and led from start to finish. Ryder DiFrancesco finished second and Drew Adams third. Cole Davies was fourth, followed by Kayden Minear in fifth. Championship leader Levi Kitchen crashed while running fifth but recovered to finish seventh.

In the second moto, Beaumer again grabbed the holeshot. Cole Davies crashed while running second, allowing Levi Kitchen to take control of the race. Kitchen went on to win the moto ahead of Jo Shimoda and Beaumer.

Thanks to his consistent 1-3 result, Beaumer secured his first SMX Playoff overall victory. DiFrancesco finished second overall with 2-5, while Kitchen was third with 7-1.

Kitchen retains the championship lead and carries a three-point advantage over DiFrancesco into the SMX World Championship Final. Beaumer moved up to third in the standings and is 16 points behind the leader.

SMX Next World All-Stars

In the SMX Next World All-Stars Main Event, Ryder Malinoski took the victory. Kade Johnson finished second, with Kane Bollasina third.

With his runner-up finish, Kade Johnson was crowned the 2026 SMX Next World All-Stars Champion.
