Lotte van Drunen claimed a convincing victory at her home round of the WMX World Championship. The Dutch rider was the strongest in both motos at the MXGP of the Netherlands in Arnhem and secured the Grand Prix victory with a perfect 1-1 score. The other Dutch riders also delivered strong performances behind Van Drunen.
Van Drunen made a strong start to the second moto and quickly took control of the race. The reigning World Champion then pulled away from her rivals and crossed the finish line after twelve laps with a lead of more than 20 seconds.
Daniela Guillen finished second, 21 seconds behind Van Drunen. Britain’s Lucy Barker took third place, ahead of Kiara Fontanesi.
With victories in both motos, there was no doubt about the overall winner. Lotte van Drunen won the Grand Prix with the maximum score of 50 points. Daniela Guillen finished second overall after taking second place in both races.
Kiara Fontanesi and Shana van der Vlist both finished the weekend on 36 points. As Fontanesi placed fourth in the second moto and Van der Vlist fifth, the Italian secured third overall. Van der Vlist therefore finished fourth in front of her home crowd, while Lucy Barker completed the top five.
