The VMXdN is so much more than the bar-to-bar racing on era-correct 2 strokes, all on the most iconic and famous track in the UK- Hawkstone Park. Though that seems a crazy statement, it’s true; the four-day festival has two packed days of racing with the world’s elite vets racers, a bunch of hungry youngsters all on era-correct 2 strokes going at it, but that’s just the daytime Saturday and Sunday entertainment.
The famous VMXdN beer tent will be in full swing with celebrity DJ, Radio One’s own Andrew Marston, on hand all weekend taking over the DJ duties. He has brought in his favourite specialist sound and lighting company to ensure the tunes get the proper respect they deserve; after all, it’s after the racing that the VMXdN comes alive.
Andrew Marston is a British-based radio presenter, music producer and club DJ, known for his extensive work with musicians, from Introducing Ellie Goulding and Becky Hill to the world. His DJing work has included House, Trance, Drum n Bass, Indie, Rock, ’70s Funk, ’80s Disco, Motown, Old Skool, UK Garage, Hip Hop and RnB. He is especially known for his love of dance and electronica music. He has now presented programmes for more than a decade and spent half a lifetime behind the record decks.
He’s been on the decks at some of the biggest events including In New Music We Trust on BBC Radio 1, The BBC Introducing Mixtape on BBC 6 Music, Ibiza Rocks in San Antonio, Scala in London (Resident), Naughty But Nice in Hereford (Organiser/Promoter), Velvet/Tramps Nightclub in Worcester (Resident), LakeFest at Eastnor Castle, and The Upton Sunshine Festival. He is currently doing slots at BBC Radio Shropshire, so will be telling his listeners to come along on the run-up to the race; he is well qualified to lift the roof off the place.
The food court, twinned with the fully stocked bar, is all on the infield, where the event traders will be open late into the night, and don’t forget to get your event cup, which is just £1 at the bar when bought with a drink; we all know how many of them are still in circulation!
Promoters Rob ‘DocWob’ Walters and Dave King are urging fans who wish to camp to be quick to secure their camping pass asap to avoid disappointment, as they have secured three extra fields adjacent to the circuit for camping, and these are on track to sell out.
The camping passes and tickets are available at the gate as well as online but it’s the camping passes that are in high demand, when they’re sold out it’ll close, as there simply isn’t any more space available – it’s suggested you get these secured prior to leaving for the event
VMXdN is the event that legends past and present from around the Globe will take to the line to go bar to bar just like the golden era of ’90s motocross. Keep an eye out in the crowd as most of our motocross idols of the past will be on hand to watch the most anticipated event of the year.
