Ruben Fernández won the MXGP Qualifying Race at Foxhill. The Spaniard took the lead from his teammate Tom Vialle midway through the race and never looked back.
Behind Fernández, Romain Febvre finished second, with Vialle completing the top three. Jeffrey Herlings crossed the line in fourth, right on the rear wheel of the Frenchman. After crashing on the opening lap, Herlings was only 16th at the end of the first lap before fighting his way back through the field. Tim Gajser finished fifth after also suffering a heavy crash during the race.
Calvin Vlaanderen was the highest-placed Dutch rider behind Herlings, while Rick Elzinga finished 18th. For Belgium, Brent Van Doninck took 14th place and Jago Geerts finished 20th.
World Championship leader Lucas Coenen crashed on the opening lap and retired from the race after completing only a few laps.
