Jeffrey Herlings Wins the MXGP of Portugal

Jeffrey Herlings claimed victory in the second MXGP race in Águeda, Portugal.

Tom Vialle grabbed the holeshot, but midway through the opening lap he was overtaken by Lucas Coenen. Shortly afterwards, Herlings, who had worked his way up to third place, also passed his teammate.

Herlings then set his sights on Coenen and made the decisive pass on the Belgian in the eighth lap. From there, the Dutchman pulled away and cruised to victory, crossing the finish line seven seconds ahead of the competition.

Lucas Coenen finished second, while Romain Febvre completed the podium in third. Tim Gajser came home fourth, ahead of Ruben Fernandez in fifth.

Calvin Vlaanderen finished eighth, while Rick Elzinga crossed the line in seventeenth. Among the Belgian riders, Jago Geerts finished fourteenth and Brent Van Doninck took sixteenth.

Thanks to his race win, Jeffrey Herlings also secured the overall victory at the MXGP of Portugal. Lucas Coenen finished second overall, with Romain Febvre completing the overall podium.
